PB's collagen peptides are obtained by enzymatic hydrolysis of collagen rich materials and as a result of that have a substantially lower molecular weight in respect to regular gelatins.  They are approved by the FDA (US Food and Drug Administration) and were awarded GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) status in 1975.
